Assuming you mean Munich. You can Google or Bing "Odeonplatz to Siegestor" and it will show you a map, with times for walking, car and u-bahn.

Just look north and you will see it; it's a 15 min walk. Shortly before the Siegestor there is the U-Bahn Station "Universität". Take the U3 from there to Machtlfinger Str. (BTW, that's far outside the center, somewhere beteween Sendling and Solln and not a place that normally attracts visitors. Are you sure about the street name?)

Thanks a lot for the info; very helpful. I'm going on a tour of Europe for 14 days and it starts in Munich. The hotel they assigned to me is ACHAT Hotel, which is two blocks from Mtrchlfinger. Nothing I could do about it. I'll have some extra time in Munich but I'll move to a better hotel near the center. Thanks. Jay
