Hey everyone! I have a 3 day/2 night trip I wanted to take within 2 hours of Frankfurt. Me and my husbands are looking for something relaxing and smaller town vibes. A few things that would be cool but not required is medieval/historic architecture, good food, nature/hike, spa/mineral waters. But we are open to anything. We will be traveling by train. Any suggestions appreciated :)
Marburg, about 1 1/2 hours north of Frankfurt, a university town with a half-timbered old city center, hilltop castle, gothic cathedral, along the Lahn River, and home of the Marburg Mercenaries American Football team.

You might want to check out Bad Homburg, nestled in the Taunus Mountains. They have a great spa there, a nice little old town, the only original palace left from the Kaiser. Near-by is the Saalburg, a reconstructed Roman fort, and Hessen Park Open Air Museum. Hessen Park is filled with buildings they have moved from all over Hessen, which included 2 Synagogues, 2 Wind mills, several churchs, a school, and lots of old stores, farm houses and barns. They have traditional German farm animals and show various crafts that would have been done in earlier centuries in Hessen. I can spend hours there and I have been there lots of times!
Wow thank you for the replies. Bad Homburg sounds exactly up my alley!
