If our friends in Germany continue to allow entry to US citizens, I will be there Aug 27 through Sept 5. The primary impetus for the trip is a wedding in Bad Steben, near Hof. On my arrival day, I need to get from the Frankfurt airport to Bad Steben. I'm leaning toward trying the My Daytrip people for the transfer as opposed to the train. That gives me about 5 hours of time that could be used for a stop along the way. Any thoughts on a good place or two to stop?
Major cities/towns along the way include Aschaffenburg, Würzburg, Bamberg, and Bayreuth. All look pretty great to me Given timed entries and what not for museums/Schlösser/etc, I wouldn't really expect to do much of that. I'm open to smaller places, too. I don't think I've done anything in Germany I didn't like, but I particularly like architecture, parks, nature, and general wandering.
Of note, Bad Steben will be followed by Chemnitz for an open air concert and then Berlin for close to a week.
