Hello all, my husband and I will be visiting Germany mid September and I'm trying to figure out what to do between the wine valleys and Munich. I love seeing cute old towns and we don't mind doing a short hike or walk, but we're not really into staying for long periods of time out on a lake for example. I would still like to see the black forest and the Alps even if it's on the surface. We'll have a car so we can drive about anywhere, just need to end in Munich. I would really appreciate recommendations for
a) towns to visit & any other major highlight that's a must
b) what should I skip (romantic road, black forest or alpes) if it's just too much
Itinerary with possible towns to stop by:
Sept 10-13: Mosel & Rhine Valley - have my towns picked already.
Sept 13: Romantic Road: Wurzburg, Bad Mergentheim, Rothenburg ob der Tauber, Bamberg, Nuremberg
Sept 14: Black Forest: Gengenbach, Triberg, Freiburg
Sept 15: Alps: Fussen, Mittenwald
Sept 16: Munich - want to arrive by the latest in the afternoon so we can wake up fresh the next day for Oktoberfest
