Separate FRA EES line for repeaters?

I came through Frankfurt yesterday and saw no sign of any such separate line. There was one line for all non-EU nationals and it took about 40 minutes, at about 6:00 am. This was the line to get to the Schengen area gates for an intraeuropean connection. I think there was a separate line somewhere for those entering Germany with no further flight connection but didn’t see that one. Nor, in my line, was there any place to provide the biometric information until reaching the manned booth, where it looked like they had the technology, but weren’t doing anything with it; the inspector just scanned my passport, looked at his computer for a while, stamped my passport and on I went, same as it ever was. But weirdly, when I was in the European gate area walking around waiting for my next flight, there were some banks of freestanding machines with signs inviting non EU nationals to preregister. Preregister for what? Exit from Schengen, for those arriving in Frankfurt from another European airport and connecting to a flight outside of Schengen? But wouldn’t those people already have supposedly been registered when they entered Schengen? Anyhow, since I’d been stamped into Schengen already, and complied with all processes asked of me to do that, I just ignored those, and eventually boarded my other flight and left. And when I come back through Frankfurt in about 10 days to go back to US, I’ll just follow the signs to that gate area and do whatever they ask to get there — and I did also see what appeared to be a manned exit area from those gates to the non Schengen departures, which is where one normally would go.

You likely will be directed to the kiosks regardless, except when you scan your passport, the kiosk may direct you to either the e-gates or a manual line, or ask you some questions before they direct you to a line.

The difficulty with Germany though, is that the last I knew, they were still trying to stamp passports, so they may require you to go to a person regardless.

I also went through Frankfurt yesterday (930am, Friday, Terminal 1) and the only line split was for EU nationals from everyone else. At one point, when the line was exceedingly long, the staff sent a large group upstairs for processing - contrary to gate signage.

Downstairs, they had everyone (pre) register at the kiosks, regardless of previously having done so. When I got up to the immigration officer (55 minutes later) it was obviously taking him a minute. He said there were two EES entries for my passport and he was merging them. I asked if it was because I had used the pre registration kiosks again. His answer was no, EES should have figured that out, but due to the system still having glitches, it hadn't.

I did see a very few people speaking with staff about short connections and being allowed to bypass a chunk of the line.
