Can anyone recommend a bike rental company that arranges self-guided bike tours in Franconia or Thuringia? I have had a hard time finding companies online that have routes in this region though there are many long-distance trails. If you have done a self-guided bike trip in this region, I would also appreciate any feedback on good routes or ones to skip. TIA

We've enjoyed a number of self-guided bicycle trips throughout Europe, booked trough bike tours dot com, a company based in America. Staff are great. Not all trips are posted on their website...others can be arranged.

The Altmühltal (Altmühl River Valley) is very scenic with lots of Castles and nice villages on the way
The above mentioned trip goes in 7 days from Rothenburg ob der Tauber to Regensburg
Been in the Altmühltal several times and enjoyed landscape villages food and beer :o)

When are looking for daytrips with the bike I can recommend a Holiday Appartment in Riedenburg/ Altmühltal
They do have bike you can use when renting the Appartment
