Searching for a special location in Mainz and maybe someone can help. My father in law served in WW II in Germany as did his older brother. Both fought in the Battle of the Bulge and didn't know if either were alive when the war ended. By happenstance, they met up in Mainz in May,1945. Older brother was in charge of "all the booze in the Rhine" stored at an occupied castle or large house on a hill in Mainz, where they met. I don't know any other details, but maybe someone familiar with the area, particularly at the end of WWII, can give me some possibilities. We will be in Mainz next month and I know it's a longshot, but would love to see if we could find this place. I have a photo but it doesn't show much of the house or surroundings. I would suggest, as a first step, contacting the historical association for the regiment that your father-in-law's brother served in. They might have the information at their fingertips.
