Schweriner Schloss castle

We are visiting Hamburg early December and was wondering if there is a private tour from Hamburg to schweriner that we can book or how to visit without renting a car.

Sorry I don't know the answer (1.5 hours by car), but your own searches may produce more if you use the noun form of the city name, Schwerin as the keyword. Just an idea. I remember that Schwerin was a nice visit, but we didn't have time to tour the Schloss.

Public transport for Hamburg - Schwerin is currently not an easy thing because of rail track closings for renovation started in August, reaching to April. A bus replacement service is operating (bus line X1). I recommend taking this one; it can be booked here. On weekend days plus Friday Flixbus offers also one connection per day per direction. These buses are more comfortable.

But Schwerin is even more worth a visit because the State Museum near the Schwerin Castle re-opened after 4 years of renovation. Take care of opening times. Also the Schweriner Christmas Market will be open.

I am not aware of a tour from Hamburg. And if there is one it would be really expensive.

Tip: for this day I recommend clothing by multiple layers which you can put on and off easily. Outdoor we have the first nights with temperatures below zero °C and the Northern wind chill from high Scandinavia feels very fresh. The lakes are still not frozen because their waters are still warm enough. Also no snow so far but possible. Check regional weather forecast.

You don't need to have a private tour to see Schloss Schwerin. Take the train from from Hamburg Hbf, a direct shot...no need at all for a rental car.

From Schwerin Hbf you can take the bus to the Schloss or walk it, maybe 25 mins, can't recall exactly. Signs point the way. Anyway I wasn't in a rush. The architecture in that city caught my attention right away en route to the Schloss.

I was there this summer as a day trip from Hamburg. Not enough time to be sure. I need to go back to Schwerin to explore the town in more detail and see the other churches, etc. You know you're in a different part of Germany, ie, a different vibe, atmosphere and all those subjective factors.

If you're interested in history, in front of the Schloss is the Siegessäule (Victory Column) , a military site commemorating German soldiers killed in the War of 1870. Very interesting and revealing.
