Schloss Neushwanstein Stair and Bus v carriage

So i searched here and on other web sites amd i can not find anyplace that tells me how long the long first stair you climb in the castle is.
I can tell you how many steps up you go in total but not how many you climb on that long first climb.
I recall from my visit a few years back. that the first staircase is pretty nasty but i cant say how much. 3 or 4 stories give or take?

For that matter, It is the first staircase that is the nasty one isn't it?
My friends mom will be on the trip with us and that staircase concerns me a bit.
it is probably the single. toughest thing we will don on the whole trip.

Also I have alwas taken the carriage up. But i suspect that the Bus has the easier walk to the castle as it is not up the steep hil like it is from the carriage drop off? I am thinking Bus up and carriage down?

If we do the Bus how far a walk to the Bridge and is that relatively flat or is that up hill one way? I have never been to the bridge and aways wanted to. If we go to the Bridge how much time should we allow for the walk to and from?

Note if we have to we can split the party in half and my sister and and i can go to the bridge and my buddy and his mom can head to the castle and we can join them there.

Any advice would be a help.

RS needs to starte a version of his guide books for old folks and those with mobility challenges. After my trip with my father 5 years ago I joked that I was going yo start my own guide book for that purpose. Being as the population is aging this is going to just get to be more of a concern.

Well thank you for any suggestions.

Here is a link to a YouTube video showing parts of the tour inside the castle. The video quality is awful, but it clearly shows the staircase climb and descent at the beginning and end of the castle tour

The carriage ride stops several hundred feet below the castle. It's about a 15 minute walk uphill from there. The bus stops near Marienbrucke, and is about 15 minute walk down to the castle.

The last thing you need is a trip and fall or a fatigued oldster who can't complete the walk or keep up with the tour. You seem to be doing your homework. But the others are counting on you, the semi-experienced one, for some judgment, in the end.

If Schloß Nymphenburg isn't already in your itinerary, consider it instead of Neuschwanstein. It's right in Munich, with easy access by public transport. The terrain is manageable for anyone who can walk. There is far more to see and do there than in N'stein - it's inherently more interesting - and there are two restaurants there as well.
