I've been reading about Schloss Harburg and the town, Harburg, it is in.
It sounds good to me, but I'd never heard of it until today.
Any input on the town or the Schloss?

Is this in reference to that part of greater Hamburg...Hamburg-Harburg?

I believe he is referring to Harburg (Schwaben) near Noerdlingen. Nice castle on the hill.

I hear that the walls are intact and the towers, etc. I'd like to see it if it is worth going a bit out of the way...

I was there in 2007. As far as I know, the castle is intact. The town is very small.
If arriving by train, you need to know that there are no lockers in the train station and no public transportation into town. I was coming via Donauwörth. I left my luggage in a locker in Donauwörth, took the train 10 minutes north to Harburg, walked the easy 1 km into town (the walk from town up to the castle was another thing). After the castle tour, I walked back to the station, took the next train (they come every hour), picked up my bag at Donauwörth, and went on my way.
