We're doing a bike and barge tour that ends in Saarburg. We'd like to visit Luxembourg, which appears to be a one-hour car ride but 3 hours by train. Any suggestions on getting there efficiently without renting a car?
The DB Navigator (the app of Deutsche Bahn) shows connections with a simple transfer in Trier in approx. 1:15.
No insult to the OP meant, but why is Luxembourg so popular here this year? I went to Luxembourg City for two days for business, but I had some time off. I thought it was fine, but not un-missable. Trier, for example, is a must-see. But I suppose you're biking through it.
I can’t help with the logistics because we have a rental car, but if you stay in Saarburg for a night consider Hotel Villa Keller. We enjoyed it.
@Tim. For me, Luxembourg is between Belgium and Moselle Valley in Germany. Where did you visit in Luxembourg? I'm finding lodging to be higher priced. Maybe I'll drop my nights to 3??
EDITED TO ADD: My apologies to OP, does my query qualify as a hijack?
