Rüdesheim or Bingen for a Saturday Dinner & Music?

The finale of our cruising the Mittelrhine on a Saturday has us arriving by train in Rüdesheim in time for a bit of wandering about before dinner then the ferry across to Bingen and finally the train back to Bacharach.

Would anyone like to make a Rüdesheim restaurant recommendation? Or perhaps Bingen has a better choice? Or maybe somthing along the way back to Bacharach?

Also I was wondering if there might be a location that might have some live music - along the lines of an Irish Pub where the local singers/musicians are a staple on a Saturday night.

TIA,

Rüdesheim is known for it's live Schlager performances, so this is where you want to go. If you're looking for something folksy... this isn't it. It's the kind of music where your appreciation tends to grow inversely with your level of sobriety.

As for picking a restaurant... just follow your ear. Pick the one where the crowd seems to be having the most fun. During the weekend, stay late enough and you'll see the stag, bachelorette and post-wedding parties start to pour in. Then, things start to get really fun!

We had a very good dinner at Rudesheim-Schloss. Great service and excellent food.

I don't see any dates here but just FYI Oberwesel (just north of Bacharach) is having a Middle-Ages festival June 7-9 (all day long) including dueling knight exhibitions, jugglers, handicrafts and the like. It's called "Mittelalterliches Spectakulum" and surely involves lots of costumes, wine stands, possibly some very old food :) and music of some sort.
