I am seeing posts that Germany and Austria spots aren't taking credit cards as much as other countries. What have you encountered and how much Euros should I have?

I was in Munich, then on RS Berlin, Prague & Vienna in June. Munich was cash heavy; purchases under €25 were usually cash. The tour cities took CC for most things. I took €450 leftovers from previous trip and my neighbor, and 25 days later came home with €200.
If you want to land with euros, 100 will be fine. Otherwise just get € from a bank affiliated ATM. To save fees, be sure to get local currency; don’t use dynamic conversion to $.
