Teo, Look it up on the DB (German Railways) website: https://www.bahn.com/en/view/index.shtml

You need to specify a date (some trains don't run on Sundays). The first train tomorrow is 04:45:

Station arrive/depart time platform number train ID
Rothenburg ob der Tauber dep 04:45 1 RB 58880
Steinach(b Rothenburg ob der Tauber) arr 04:59 5
Transfer time 14 min.
Steinach(b Rothenburg ob der Tauber) dep 05:13 3 RB 58139
Treuchtlingen arr 06:09 7
Transfer time 13 min.
Treuchtlingen dep 06:22 5 IC 2087 [High demand expected]
München Hbf arr 07:45 14

If that is too early, lots of later trains.

Teo, did the answer above give you what you needed? Do you want that 4:45 train, or did you not mean quite so early when you said "earliest train"?

Transfer times of 13 and 14 minutes are very doable..but what about some of the regional trains with transfer times of 4 minutes?
I have two of those short, 4 min., transfer times for September from Rothenburg ob der Tauber to Munich. Adjacent tracks are not a problem for 4 minute times but what about from platform 5 to 3 at Steinach. From 7 to 6 at Treuchtlingen seems possible in 4 minutes.
Any thoughts of this?

The Steinach station is tiny and 4 min is the regular transfer time there (track 5 to track 3 is a transfer of one platform, so you will have to cover approx. 50 meters. In Treuchtlingen it's a same platform transfer. You can find an outline of the Steinach station here and of the Treuchtlingen station here (scroll down to see the maps; "Gleis" is German for "track"). Steinach has only conveyor belts, Treuchtlingen has elevators.

Thank you for the links to the station maps and information. I have made those connections before but it has been a long time and I have forgotten the layout plus I was much younger then and traveling alone so could move a little faster. Being able to picture the layout in my mind ahead of time is great help. Vielen Dank
