Rotherburg ob der tauber

Hi I am going there soon. The hotel that I stay is about a kilometre away from the train station to hotel. As I be carrying my luggage. Maybe I need a taxi. Do I need to book for one in advance? Not sure if outside the station , I can get a taxi to hotel . It will be night time then. I came across this taxi- Kersten. Is the taxi fare there expensive? Please advise, thank you.

I'd ask the hotel to send a taxi for you to the station. For just one km the fare is neglegible.

What hotel? I hope it is inside the walls. It is a bit of a walk, done it with light roller bag and small back, but somehow I suspect you will have more if you are stopping at Ingolstadt Village before hand:-)

There is a taxi stand at the station and there are typically a couple cabs there when the trains arrive. There are very few trains arriving in Rothenburg and taxis know when to expect them.

A taxi will not be excited about driving only a kilometer. This is like a 10 min. walk.

Teo,

As I recall, I've taken a Taxi from the station and it wasn't that expensive. As someone else mentioned, there's usually at least one waiting when the trains arrive. As far as the expense of a Taxi you only have two choices - pay whatever the Taxi fee is or walk with heavy luggage.

That goes without saying and it's really bad luck for the taxi driver. However, taxis are integrated into the local transport system and have the obligation to transport a passenger to any desired destination within the respective taxi district. And in Rothenburg, they are used to short distance transportation.

I was seeking one f the several taxis there when I arrived, but our landlady was there to pick us up ! Probably 90% of their fares are just that short distance

We just got back from there. We took a tai from the train station (there were a couple of them waiting there) to our hotel inside the city wall. He did not seem irritated at all. I think they are used to it. The fare was around 7 Euros. Taxis will probably be around as long as the trains are arriving.
