Rothenburg in March

We will be in southwest Germany (Freiburg, Heidelberg and the Rhine) from March 18-25, 2018. Many of the sights in the town of Rothenburg ob der Tauber seem to closed in March (according to Rick Steves' "Best of Germany" guidebook). We will have a car and are contemplating driving to Rothenburg on March 22 or so and spending a night there. Does anyone know whether the key attractions (e.g. Night Watchman's tour, St. Jakob's Church) are open that early in the season? Is the town worth visiting in March or is it too "dead" and not worth it? Thanks.

I visited in April a few years ago. The town wasn't dead but wasn't too busy either especially at night. It's a charming town, actually, and because it has a reputation for being so touristy in high season, March might not be a bad time to visit. Maybe some of the "attractions" won't be available but you can still wander around and explore. I'm not sure I would make a special trip just to Rothenburg O.D.T. for a night but if you are on the way somewhere else, I'd most definitely stop here for a night.

I think Rothenburg is always worth a visit! Looks like the nightwatchman takes a week off in March, but runs tours the rest of the year... https://tourismus.rothenburg.de/index.php?id=516. He's very entertaining, but even if you miss his tour it's very enjoyable to walk the town and walls!

I was there March 2016 and got some great photos lots of detail as there were not many tourists there getting in the way.
All the shops were open. Churches never close when a guided tour season ends, so you count going in St Jakob's.
They say that the Night Watchman's tour start mid-March. You can contact them on this page to confirm.
