Do we do both or just the Night Watchman's Tour? Do they basically copy one another?
The draw of the Night Watchman's tour is the droll narration of the guide.
We only did the Nightwatchman Tour. We found him to be informative and witty. Loved the tour.
erin,
I'd suggest doing both if time permits. Of the two, the Night Watchman's tour is well worth the time and cost (IMO), as he's very entertaining.
If you are there during the day, the self guided walk is a good way to see the town. It isn't a replacement for the Nightwatchman's tour as others have said. He is very entertaining and funny. I wouldn't miss the Nightwatchman's Tour if you have the chance to go on it.
We did both. The RS walking tour was good for orientation during the day. We enjoyed the Night Watchman's tour in the evening. They each stand alone as worthwhile.
They're different. Rick's stuff tells you about the sights, what to look for, when it was built, the story behind it...
The Night Watchman takes a humorous look at life in the middle-ages. He sprinkles in fun facts but it's more about the time than specifically about Rothenberg.
Do the self-guided tour in the day then take the Night Watchman's tour in the evening.
Do both. Some staff here (in addition to Rick) continue to be entertained by the Night Watchman after several visits.
