The wife and I will be going on AMA Waterways Rhein cruise in April. One of the stops is Rüdesheim-Ludwigshafen. It lists the time as 12pm to 6:30pm. I have a language pal who lives in Germany and she would like to meet us in Speyer, which is only 1 hour drive for her.
The tour schedule offers a Speyer tour, which it says is in the afternoon. The duration is 4 hrs. 30 min., and the bus ride is 90 mins. The actual walking tour is also 90 mins.
It seems like we could take the 90 minute walking tour, and still have 3 hours to visit with my friend. I realize that I will probably be able to get a more exact timetable once we are on the ship, but I wondered if anyone else who has done this could provide suggestions about the timing.
E.g., there will be a bus leaving the dock at noon, arriving in Speyer at (say) 1pm (I assume the bus trip time above is round-trip). If the guided tour is from 1-2:30pm, that would allow us to meet our friend and stay until we have to meet back for the bus ride to the ship.
Am I on track here? Any and all suggestions welcome!

I would call AMAWaterways directly for this information. They are the best river cruise company we have ever sailed with and I think they will be able to help you better than anyone else.
