Rick Steves ebook Berlin Help

Hello,
I am currently in Prague and will be traveling to Berlin tomorrow. Sadly, I forgot my hardcopy of Rick Steves Germany at home. I am desperately trying to purchase the ebook for Berlin. I went on to Amazon to buy the ebook, and I get a message that reads, "This item is not available for purchase from this app." I don't understand it; other than I am unable to buy the ebook.

I've sent an email to the Rick Steves website as well, hoping they would have some suggestions.

Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Thank you,

Thanks MarkK and Laurel for the suggestions.

Laurel: Do you mean buy the hardcopy on Amazon to get it as electronic? Originally, I did buy my Rick Steves hardcopy on Amazon. I went back to my orders it says:
Rick Steves Germany 2017
Steves, Rick
Sold by: Amazon.com Services, Inc

Then when I open up the old order it states:
Sold by carmetrade and Fulfilled by Amazon.

I would suggest "The Rough Guide Berlin" as the replacement of the RS book, which I never use, only The Rough Guide.

When you get to Berlin, take the S-Bahn to Bahnhof Friedrichstrasse (good food court too), near by is the 5 story store, "Dussmann" for music and books, even books in English such as travel guides, maps, etc. Check there...tons of "stuff" books and CDs, etc.

From Bahnhof Friedrichstrasse is ca 10 walk max to Dussmann down Friedrichstraße.

Try to purchase through website instead of the app. Then you should be able to downlad to kindle or kindle app.

I can purchase books on my kindle device, but not from the kindle app on my iPad mini. Even if I’ve downloaded sample, nit possible you purchase from app.

Be sure you go to Amazon.com, not Amazon.de or other Amazon website.

Karen explained it more clearly than I did. You buy the Kindle version on Amazon.com then have it delivered to your phone or iPad.

rod,

What type of device are you using? Are you trying to download a Kindle version of the book? Perhaps the Amazon site is looking at the country where the purchase is being made, which may not be authorized?

This website may work, although the book is supplied by someone other than Amazon - https://www.amazon.com/s?rh=n%3A2224393011&brr=1&rd=1 .

Thanks Everyone for the great support and suggestions. I am about to catch my train from Prague to Berlin in two hours, and I am quickly packing up and checking out of my Airbnb.

once I reach my Airbnb in Berin, I'll try these great suggestions again on the Kindle. Otherwise, I will use the itinerary that RS has on his website as advised.

One of the questions was, were was I trying to download the ebook. I have a laptop, and I was trying to download the ebook on the kindle cloud from Amazon.

The thought did cross my mind that because I am not in the US, Amazon is not allowing me to download. I don't know. Nonetheless, I'll try all possibilities once I reach Berlin.

That is geo-fencing and the opposite move of "victims" is geo-spoofing. There are several instructions and solutions available to "fake" a US IP.

Amazon doesn't make it too difficult to download kindle content from other countries.

The error message you got - "This item is not available for purchase from this app." - makes me suspect it's possible you might be trying to download the Kindle book to a Kindle app that you have installed on either an iPhone, iPad, or Macbook. Because of the hefty cut Apple takes from digital purchases made through applications that were installed via the Apple App Store, Amazon prefers not to sell their digital content through those apps.

If it is indeed the case you're using a Kindle app on an Apple device, I'd suggest attempting to buy the ebook at Amazon.com (in an actual browser window - be sure you actually type in the .com and are presented with the english-language site), rather than attempting to do so through the app. Login to your Amazon account on the actual website, purchase the book, and so long as that same Amazon account is the one you use on your Kindle apps, you can then access the content.

rod,

One other question.... I assume you've already downloaded the free Kindle Reader to your PC, Mac, iPad or other device? I have the Reader on my iPhone and Netbook (PC) so I can read the books on either device.
