I will be staying in Sankt Goar for 2 days and would like to travel by train and boat along the Rhine. How frequently do trains run from Santk Goar to Boppard and Sankt Goar to Bacharach. I was not able to find this information on the Deutsche Bahn website or google maps. I am planning on taking the train to Bacharach and returning on a KD Cruise back to Sankt Goar. Any other advice on how to see this area?
The trains between St. Goar and Bacharach run hourly and it is a ten minute ride at 3.80 euros per person.
Try is format for the Dbahn Website. Perhaps it is easier.
St. Goar is a good place to end the cruise, but Bacharach isn't the best starting point. My advice is to visit Bacharach as planned but after Bacharach to move on further south by train to BINGEN where the extra-scenic part actually begins. Board a northbound KD boat there for St. Goar (a trip of 1.5 hours.) Cruising only from Bacharach to St. Goar means only 40 minutes on the boat and cheats you out of half the scenery.
The train from St. goar to Bingen costs 6.20E. You can break the trip in Bacharach for your visit there. Show your train ticket at the KD dock and you will get a 20% discount on your cruise fare, which nearly covers the cost of your train ticket.
If you will be making further trips the same day by train, consider the Rheinland-Pfalz ticket, a day pass covering a large area, at 24E for one, 29E for two, 5 more E per additional passenger. You can buy all train tickets from machines at the station.

I find that hard to believe. Where were you looking? Use Gary's link above. Finding schedules there is easy.
Some of the fares on the Rhein (ex. St. Goar to Boppard) will not be shown on the Bahn website because they are inside the local transit district (Verkehrsverbund Rhein-Mosel, VRM). These can be found at www.vrminfo.de. Cllick the British flag for English. The VRM includes everything on the Rhein from Oberwesel down to Koblenz (also Koblenz to Linz and Koblenz to Bullay on the Mosel).
There are rail lines with at least hourly service on both sides of the Rhein between Koblenz and Bingen/Rüdesheim.
You may be running into a name issue. For the bahn.de web site, Sankt Goar will be listed as "St Goar". There is no period after the "St".
If you type in "St. Goar" (or anything like it) the Bahn website will give you a pulldown menu of similarly spelled places. St Goar is the Bahnhof in St. Goar. St Goar KD is the KD boat dock in St. Goar. St Goarshausen is the town across the river from St. Goar. Etc, etc.
The Bahn used to be real fussy about spelling, but they have added an ignorance algorithm that tries to figure out what you really want. Still, proper spelling is always a good idea.
Really recommend training farther to Bingen and beginning your cruise there to St Goar. You miss so much of the Rhein and so many castles only starting in Bacharach.
Thanks for all the help! I was able to find the train schedule using the links provided. Also will start the cruise in Bingen to St Goar.
