Rhine tour feasibility

Is it feasible to do a Rhine tour in 1 day -- leaving Dusseldorf by train, from Koblenz to Bacharach, touring Marksburg and Rheinfels Castles-- train one way from Koblenz to Bacharach and ferry the other-- returning to Dusseldorf?

Probably not advisable but feasible if you do it like this... sample schedule from a randomly-selected weekday:

6:27 Lv D'dorf
8:56 Ar Bingen Rhein Stadt station; walk to KD dock
9:30 cruise boat from Bingen to Bacharach (10:15) for 1-hour visit
11:15 cruise to St. Goar (11:55) - tour Rheinfels (self-guided) and have lunch; use St. Goar ferry at 13:50 or 14:10 (not cruise boat) to St. Goarshausen; walk to train station.
14:32 train from St. Goarshausen to Braubach (14:53) to see town and tour Marksburg at 16:00 (English tour time.)
Dinner in Braubach + train back to D'dorf whenever via Koblenz.

It would be semi-foolish to catch the cruise boat from Bacharach north instead of Bingen. No sense coming all that way south from D'dorf only to cruise through half of the most scenic part. Start where the great scenery begins - in Bingen.

Staying over in St. Goar or thereabouts is a much better idea than a day trip from D'dorf.

If you have a rail pass, it costs you one rail pass day + the ferry fare (about €2) + the cruise boat fare (about €16 with a rail pass discount.)

Otherwise you need 1 DB ticket for D'dorf - Bingen and 1 DB ticket for St. Goarshausen - Braubach stopover - D'dorf + ferry + cruise fares.
