Rhine River Tours out of Frankfurt

Traveling to Frankfurt in early September and was wondering if anyone could recommend a company that gives Rhine River Tours from Frankfurt? Thank you!

The Rhine cruise is very easy to do without a tour.

  • Frankfurt to Rüdesheim by direct train (1:10, trains run every hour at :53 after.)
    Look around Rüdesheim.

  • KD cruise from Rüdesheim (11:15) to St. Goar (12:55). This is the very best part of the river.

  • Self-guided tour of Rheinfels Castle and lunch in St. Goar.

  • Return train to Frankfurt (1:45.) There are regular departures from St. Goar at :56 after the hour, one change of train in Mainz.

  • Total train trip for two is around €50 or less. Cruise is €16 each (show train tickets at KD kiosk for this price.)

Our itinerary is still in flux and instead of taking a day trip to the Rhine River from Frankfurt we are thinking we will leave Frankfurt after a couple of days and travel along the Rhine the majority of our week in this part of Germany.
We fly into Frankfurt the first Monday in September. Leave Frankfurt (by train) Wednesday for destinations (as many as we can handle using train and boat) along the Upper Middle Rhine.
Here is my question: We are going to travel to Vienna next (the following Sunday) to meet a friend and travel in that area for an additional week and then fly home from there.
Any suggestions on the best way to get to Vienna from Upper Middle Rhine region? Many thanks!

You can get from any town with a train station in Germany to Vienna using the train system.

Using this page, enter your starting point, then VIENNA as your destination. Also input your travel date, departure time, and traveler information. Hit search.

When the itinerary options appear, you can see the arrival time and pricing options. Hit "show details" to see where and when you must change trains, which platform numbers are involved, etc.

I just entered St Goar (without a period) and found some journeys with only one change of train. That's pretty simple. If you are in Koblenz (also in the Middle Rhine Valley) it would be possible to take a direct train to Vienna. You are looking at 8-9 hours of train travel.

Flying may be an option as well. Check flights from Frankfurt airport or Cologne-Bonn airport.
