I am travelling from Frankfurt tomorrow to Rudersheim. I want to do a trip down the middle region and to Loreley. I don’t want to sail back. Which is the best part to get off and do I need to catch a train back to Rudersheim or can I get a train back to Frankfurt from the stop I get off. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,
It's fairly straightforward:
1. Take a train from Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof (Hbf) to either Bingen or Rüdesheim (check times on www.bahn.de and see what's best for you)
2. Take boat (either K-D or Bingen-Rüdesheimer mines) from the chosen port to St Goar, right past Lorelei
3. Take train back to Frankfurt from St. Goar (usually changing at Mainz Hbf, or Ingelheim à little bit before)

If you don't want to see Rheinfels Castle in St. Goar, take the cruise boat to St. Goarshausen; catch a direct train from there to Frankfurt (train stops in Rüdesheim.)
