Does anyone have current info on the RP ticket: what it offers, the cost, where to purchase (Bahnhof automats?), time frame for use, etc. ? I've read about this ticket, but can't seem to find current and specific information. Thank you for any help! Susan
Here is a map of the entire R-P rail network.
Long-distance trains (IC, ICE, EC) are excluded.
But the R-P is not by any means the only day pass in this region. Smaller transit authorities also issue day passes within their jurisdictions. On the map linked above, you can see these zones in different colors with their own acronyms. For example, the VRM (in green) sells passes (and normal tickets) for the "core" or the Rhine/Mosel region, which centers around Koblenz.
Here is a more detialied VRM rail network map.
The VRM Day Ticket and Mini-group ticket are briefly described here.
The VRM page is very incomplete at the moment. Prices are €18.80 for a 1-person Day Ticket and €22.10 for a mini-group ticket. There is a table of fares you can view HERE. Look at the far right under the "VRM Netzfahrscheine" column, along the green "Freizeit tickets" line, for these prices. You'll also find a price for €37.60 for a "3-Tageskarte" - a 3-day pass for one.
Not shown on the maps are the bus lines and the ferries that are also covered by these passes.
If you have an idea of the journeys you will make, listing them here will probably yield some tips for which pass/ticket to use.
Wow, I never realized how bad the English language pages on German Rail are (I always use the German language pages for the practice). This page (in German) has links to individual pages for each state (Land). A lot of the information is sort of self explanatory. Run the rest through Google Translate.
You can purchase the RL-P-Ticket from ticket automats if you can figure them out (they can display in English) or for 2 euro more from a ticket counter. The ticket is valid for unlimited travel from 9 AM workdays, all day weekend days and holidays, until 3 AM the following morning, on regional trains in the Land of Rheinland-Pfalz, for all conveyances of Verkehrsverbünde (metro districts) in RL-P, and for almost all bus lines.

Mayby they are using Google translator too. ;)
No, they just leave out a lot of information.
