I will be returning a one-way rental car (Alamo/Enterprise/National) to the Cologne Bonn Airport (CGN). Any tips/hints/cautions about returning the rental and refueling before doing so? Thanks.

Do photos from out- and inside the car incl. km-status and fuel status when you reach the car return area.
Do the final check together with the staff there (it is a general service provider for some rental car companies).
Ask for the bill / receipt at the desk of your rental car company to avoid surprises of later damages or so.
