Going to both towns in July and are wondering about places to eat. We've taken RS suggestion on Rhein Hotel Bacharach, but would like other suggestions. Any type of food that you think is good, as we will be trying everything, not just German cuisine.
While in Barach, you may want to make your way up to the Burg Stahleck which is a Youth Hostel. But anyone can sit on the outdoor terrace with an incredible view of the Rhein River. You don't have to be a Hostelling International (H.I.) member and you can get cold drinks and snacks from the Kantine. Good chance, you'll meet other travellers from all over the world.
In Bacharach we ate at the Cafe Rusticana and the Münze. Both were good German food. They are just a few blocks apart on the main business street, Koblenzer Straße.
In Cochem we had 2 amazing meals at the restaurant at this hotel https://lohspeicher.de/?lang=1 in 2012. I can't find mention of the restaurant on their website any more however. Might be worth emailing them. Although I don't think it had a Michelin star it should have!
We ate 3 nights at Cafe Rusticana during the week we were in Bacharach. We also like the kabab/puzza place across the street.
We also liked the kebab/pizza place for a quick bite (it is called The Bacharacher). The portions are huge. We also ate at Hotel Am Markt, and it was quite good. I also recommend the gelato shop (Eiscafe), they have a Riesling flavor that is delicious! We did not go to Cochem. Have fun!
Another vote for Cafe Rusticana and the Reisling gelato at the gelato shop on the main street.
