Looking for restaurant recs for Köln. Something walkable in 20 mins from the Dom. Looking for good, non-touristy German food; if its attached or affiliated with one of the local breweries all the better! I'll be there in November, so big heavy stick to your ribs German pub grub is perfect!
I can’t help you because although I’ve been there a couple of times to visit family who live there we usually don’t eat out. Last year we did eat at a place (sorry, I don’t remember the name) in the old town along the river. We chose it so we could eat outside. I’m interested in hearing any recommendations you get because I’ll be there in December with a friend and will likely spend time on our own.
There are a number of good restaurants in Cologne. One restaurant I highly recommend is maiBeck FÜR DICH. I went there for lunch and it was one of the best meals I had in Germany.
I also ate at Brauhaus früh am Dom, which serves authentic German food. I opted for sauerbraten along with a beer, and it was very tasty.
Both restaurants were within a very short walking distance from the cathedral (which is where my hotel was) and both seemed to cater more to locals.
Mardee, thanks for the recommendations. I know I can ask my cousins, but I haven’t told them I’m coming yet. 😬
Andrea, that's right - I remember you having family in that area. That will be fun!
Thank you everyone for the recs. Keep them coming!
