Hi all!
We are excited about our stay in Nuremburg to see the Christmas Markets. We will be staying on the square where the main market is located. Does anyone have any restaurant recommendations? We will be there three nights. I was thinking that we would eat at the market one night (I assume that there are food booths there), but would like to eat inside the other two nights. All information about the markets and events are also welcome. I have never been to anything like this before and would like to see/try it all. lol
Thank you!!
Lori
You might consider Bratwurst Röslein or Barfüßer. Bratwurst and Schäufele.
For traditional Franconian cooking interpreted in a more modern and light way I can recommend Weinhaus Steichele, Knorrstrasse 2 (closed on sunday). It's a 10 min walk from the Saxx. Due to it's somewhat hidden location, it is not frequented by tourists but by locals; reservation is advisable. A large Italian restaurant, the Provenza is just across the Saxx at Hauptmarkt 6. A popular Indian restaurant is the Sangam, Königsstrasse 87 (a 10 min. walk, too).
If you are looking for something special, e.g., star restaurants, please let us know.
(BTW, I'd avoid the two maior beer halls in the Königsstrasse, they are simply disappointing).
If you like Italian, try this place: http://www.padelleditalia.de/de/
The pasta was amazing! We were there in 2013 and my husband still talks about it :-)
If you go, ask your hotel to make a reservation because they get pretty busy.
In 2015, we enjoyed a leisurely lunch at Behringer's Bratwursthäusle.

Have a great trip!
there will be plenty to eat at the market.
