Frankfurt to Brussels Train

I'm flying into FRA from Seattle (on COndor Airlines), landing at 12:30 PM. From FRA, I'd like to take a direct train to BRU, would appreciate your help with the following questions:

  1. Does the "Rail and Fly" voucher allow you to book a ticket to Brussels?
  2. Any other options to lower my price? I'm traveling with lot of luggage so I'm trying to avoid "close" transfers.
  3. Would it be too close to plan for ICE14 train leaving at 14:42? The next one leaves at 16:42.
  4. The price for a "Flexpreis Europa" is cheaper on an earlier train. Can I book and skip that train but travel on a higher priced (same route) later train?

Thanks in advance,
Sam

  1. No, the ticket is only valid from the airport to any DB station - in your case to Aachen.

  2. "Saver Fare Europe", but this is train-specific and cannot be cancelled on the day of travel. I'd consider it too risky, as your flight could be delayed.

  3. Nobody can say for sure because nobody knows whether your flight will be on time. I would plan to take the train at 16:42 at the earliest.

  4. You cannot exchange a DB ticket, you can only cancel it and buy a new one. It is therefore useless for you to buy a flex price ticket before the first day of travel (this would only incur cancellation fees). If you have the DB app, you can buy your ticket while waiting at the luggage belt.

If the rail fair is too high, have you checked Lufthansa and Brussels Air for flights? There is a risk of missed connection, of course, but check the on-time record of your Condor flight,

You have omitted the date of your trip. Are you using the Deutsche Bahn official site to price the rail trip?
