Rental Car Return at Frankfurt Airport

Wondering if anyone can provide some answers and information to the following questions?
Does Europcar have a specific rental car drop off location at the Frankfurt Airport?
After dropping the vehicle off, how does one get to the departure terminal for a flight to Paris, France?
Is it walkable? or will a shuttle be necessary? If so, does Europcar have shuttles available?
We'll have luggage that we'll need to check in as well. Should we drop the luggage, then return the vehicle, or drop off the vehicle and keep our bags for the return to the departure terminal?

2, both in-terminal drop-offs. See Europcar website.

Depends on airline.

We've dropped rental cars at Frankfurt many times - it's very easy and straightforward. Just drive to where the signs tell you. There's carts available for luggage, as I remember. The terminals are right there, so getting to your departure area is very easy.

Thank You both for your input and information.
MarkK - we'll be taking an Air France flight, so I've learned that would mean returning our vehicle at or near terminal 2?

Thanks Susan E. - We'll be driving in from Cochem for a mid day flight on a Sunday. Hopefully it will be as straight forward as you suggest.

Hi Are-

as explained above it is pretty easy to return your rental car at the Frankfurt Airport (Flughafen). However, pay careful attention to the road signs and rental car return signs or you will drive in circles (VOE).

Probably the fastest way to drive from Cochem to the Frankfurt airport is to get back onto A48 when you leave Cochem and drive East (Toward Koblenz). After you pass Koblenz you will reach A3. Turn South on A3 (toward Frankfurt). A3 goes right by the airport. This is about 160 Kms and will take about 2 hours. Take the exit for Terminal 2 (Air France?) and really look sharp for the proper lane to find the car rental return. All of the major car rental agencies use the same exit. Drive until you see the Europcar sign (Yellow I believe). When you park your car you can walk 50-100 feet and get a luggage carrier (have a few € change in your pocket) and roll it back to your car to get the luggage. Be sure the Europcar agent at the return station inspects your car and get a copy of the signed damage report !!! This is critical if there are any disputes regarding damages after the fact.

After you load you luggage onto the cart follow the signs to the main hall where you will find checkin counters for all of the airlines.. As I remember (from last fall), you must use an elevator to reach the main hall from the car rental return.

If you chose to use the more scenic route down the Rhine, it will probably take 3-4 hours. There was less roadwork on the East side of the Rhine (compared to the west side) last fall..

Have a great trip!!!

Thanks for that information Kenneth. Particularly regarding moving our luggage from vehicle drop off to the terminal.
Much appreciated!
