We will be spending a few days in Colmar and the Alsace region this summer with a car and am considering a day drive into Germany. Somewhere on the Travel Forum I could swear I read about such a place in the Colmar area, perhaps akin to what I recall in Zaanse Schans or the Arnhem Open- Air Museum in the NE. I am drawing nothing but blanks and would appreciate any info. Thank you!

Probably the Vogtsbauernhof in Gutach. Very nice.

I agree with Russ.
Gutach is in the northern Black Forest east of Gengenbach which is east of Offenberg, across the river from Strasbourg. Easier by car but doable by train.

You might also be thinking of the Ecomusee d'Alsace near Mulhouse, but that is in France, some way south of Colmar.

You probably mean the Écomusée d'Alsace which is south of Colmar, near Ungersheim.
There is also the Black Forest Open Air Museum (Schwarzwälder Freilichtmuseum Vogtsbauernhof), but that is further from Colmar.

Thank you, everyone, for the response! It was Gutach I was trying to recall, and never knew of the Alsatian museum. We really enjoy these open air museums and it now looks like we may have to visit both. Thanks again. Your help will add so much to our trip!
