Reichstag in Berlin

Is the Reichstag open to the dome at the present time? We will be there Oct 17,18,19. On their website when I login no dates are available for a visit.

Also need suggestions for what is open on MONDAY? I know many attractions in Berlin are closed Mondays. Museums are good, but we will consider anything.

Hi, I'm a bit confused by your question. If there are no dates available for a visit during your time there, does it matter if it's open to the dome, or am I reading your question wrong?
Your could Google Berlin tourist information for what is currently open on Mondays.
Enjoy your trip, Berlin is a wonderful city.

Here's my post on the same topic awhile back, with replies. I know the dome is closed next week for cleaning and maintenance, but I haven't learned why it can't be visited during the day later this month. It has been open in the evenings but those time slots have been booked.

However, one of those who replied to me, who was in Berlin at the time, wrote: "I was told they were booked for two weeks. However, they did tell me that every day at 12pm they give away 100 tickets for an evening dome climb. They said to be in line at the white pavilion across the street at 11:30am to get a ticket. That was the only way to get in. I hope that helps. PS- I did return to get one of the 100 tickets to see the dome tonight."

I booked a 90-minute tour of the Bundestag for October 18, which ends with a visit to the dome. Unfortunately the tour is in German, so I don't expect to understand much of it, but it will be interesting to see the rest of the building. I also plan to follow our fellow-poster's advice before that and try for one of the tickets they give out at noon. Maybe we'll run into each other there!

EDIT -- As for what's open on Mondays, try the Jewish Museum, DDR Museum, Berliner Dom, a boat ride on the Spree, or any of the open-air sites like Brandenburg Gate, Memorial to Murdered Jews, Tiergarten, Berlin Wall Memorial (but not the visitor center), etc. The Jewish Museum and Berliner Dom require timed entry, the DDR museum sells tickets by the day but not by time.

I've spent a lot of time in Berlin, and I don't recall Mondays being particularly problematic for finding things to do. Nonetheless, this recent thread includes a number of non-museum activities that would work for any day, including Monday.

I was the one that Dick quoted above who was in Berlin a couple weeks ago. I showed up at the clearly marked white booth to the right of the Reichstag at about 11:30am and got a ticket to see the dome later that evening. You need your passport or other form of ID to get the ticket and of course, will need to show your CDC card when you show up at the dome. As far as things to do on Monday that are not closed, try the Berlin Wall memorial tour in the RS book. I laced that together with the "Prenzlauer Berg Walk" and the "Fascism & Cold War Walk" with the help of a couple subway transfers which are clearly explained in the RS book. That chewed up most of the day and is mostly outside things that are open all day everyday. I hope that helps!!

The modest Kathe Kollwitz museum is open daily. It’s as much about cultural and military history as it is about art on the wall.

Another option for Monday that is always open is the East Side Gallery. I was very pleasantly surprised by this site and took a good hour to stroll along and look at all the street art. There were some very creative displays!!
