Regio Ticket Wenderfels + Innsbruck

Hi. Two adults and two seniors one-day traveling on 7:32 am train from Munich, with a stopover in Garmisch, then proceed to Innsbruck in the afternoon. One way. I’m seeing on the DB app Regio Ticket Wenderfels + Innsbruck for 85 euro total. Can anyone tell me a little more about this ticket? Will this ticket work for my Munich-Garmisch-Innsbruck itinerary? Once I’m in Garmisch, can I just catch any train from there into Innsbruck? How do I book it on the DB site? Thanks in advance.

Actually, you just buy the ticket out of a vending machine at Munich Hbf. There is no reason to buy in advance, since it is nonrefundable if your plans change.

FYI, to buy at the DB website, just put in Munich to Innsbruck and click the "Local transport only" box. Also add in a stopover in Garmisch-Partenkirchen for 5 hours or so, although not really necessary, since you can take any subsequent train to Innsbruck. You will see the 85 EUR price shown click on that and proceed.

What will you be doing after arrival at G-P station? If you have nearby destinations in mind, the Werdenfels ticket is also valid on additional train lines and on the Oberbayern bus lines, as shown on the the map below.

To visit one of Germany's most adorable alpine towns, you can get off the Munich > Innsbruck route in Mittenwald (in addition to or in place of G-P.)

Will you need S-Bahn transport within Munich to reach your departure train station? The Werdenfels ticket is valid throughout the entire Munich transport system:

Buy the Werdenfels ticket online, on the DB app, or at the station or S-Bahn station from ticket machines. Do not buy in advance - there is no price advantage, no seat reservation or seat guarantee possible, and it is NON_REFUNDABLE.

Thanks for your prompt replies. I tend to lean towards getting tixs in advance, just so I have one less thing to worry about. Is that silly? If I want to catch the 7:30 train to Garmisch, and just show up that morning, will there be room/seats? I don’t want to get into a situation where there are no tixs. It’s the day after the marathon, so I’m thinking it might be quite busy. Probably overthinking.

There are never "no tickets" on regional trains. Buying a ticket now gives you no more right to a seat than some one who bought it with their app 3 minutes before departure. Just get to the platform by 7:15 am and you will be the first on board to get your choice of seats when they spot the train on the platform.
