Regensburg Tour Guide

My wife and I are traveling to Germany in April, and we’re planning to stay three nights in Nuremberg, two in Regensburg, and six days in Munich, where another couple will be joining us.

We already have a rough itinerary, but we’re looking for a guide in Regensburg. I once read a recommendation for someone here on the forum, but I can’t seem to find that post anymore.

We’re especially interested in Regensburg because my wife’s great-grandmother was from there, and it’s one of the best-preserved medieval cities in Germany. It also wasn’t destroyed during the war, which makes it even more fascinating to us. We would love to hire a private guide who could focus just on us and share the city’s history in depth.

We were there not long ago and had a really great guide. The email on her card is [email protected].

It was actually pretty cold the day we toured, but honestly, we barely noticed because the tour was so engaging. She shared a lot of fascinating history, explained things in a way that was easy to follow. And she had a really good sense of humor.

Hope you have an amazing time — Regensburg is wonderfull!

I can't help you with a guide, but I would highly recommend visiting the Town Hall (Rathaus) while you're there. They actually have their own tours of the building that you can take for a small fee, in both German and English. When I was there, the English tour for that day had been canceled, so they offered me a German guide with an English audio guide. Since I speak some German, I was also able to talk to the tour guide, it worked out well. Either way, it was a fascinating tour and I really enjoyed it.
