Regensburg on a Sunday?

I posted a day or two ago about Oberammergau or Garmisch and got a lot of suggestions for Regensburg if we had to cancel Garmisch (which we will - heavy rain forecasted tomorrow). Went to Oberammergau today - it was great but oh wow, the rain! And I’m from Vancouver so no stranger to it!

Regensburg forecast looks decent for tomorrow, but will everything be closed? Basically, will any town we could visit be mostly closed on a Sunday?

Thanks to everyone who is helping me with Plan B!

Shops will be closed. Many of Regensburg’s sights are churches with limited access on Sunday. There are museums that will likely be open. Restaurants and cafes will be open.

Regensburg is a UNESCO world heritage site for its old buildings and streets and alleys and squares. It is beautiful town for walking. Great atmosphere.

It is a university town; it will be lively even with tourism seemingly light. We spent 4 days there in the last 2 weeks.

It depends on what you enjoy.

The TIC is open till 4 on Sunday, which means you can probably do that wonderful tour of the Altesrathaus. Even if the tour is in German, take it. They have English audio guides available. I found it fascinating. Like Gary said, the city is beautiful and wonderful for wandering around in. Restaurants will be open, also.
