Recommendations for wine tour/tastings

We would like to visit smaller, family owned Mosel wineries. We don’t necessarily need to try the best wine or have the “slickest” tour, just something smaller and more personal. We do know a lot about wine and have tasted in many wine regions. The plan is to tour/taste at 1-3 wineries (over the course of 4 days).

We’d would also like suggestions for wineries that have lovely views or gardens where we can just stop, sit and have a glass of wine.

These are very good wines and right in the heart of the most prestigious vineyard stretch of the Mosel. Small and family-owned, but distributed to small wine-geek-oriented shops in the US. You can stay there if you want as well.

There's also a cluster of tasting rooms near the uber famous Wehlener Sonnenuhr vineyard. These are located just downstream out of Bernkastel, which is a nice town to stay in. Search for "Weingut Josef Bernard Kieren" on Google maps, then look at the photos associated with the map location to see what you're going to get. It's very pretty and there's nice wine and food.

Prum (The Mac Daddy of all Moselle wineries) is right there as well, but it's tough to get in to taste, pretty exclusive.
