Family will be in Berlin September 20th - 25th. We are staying at the Berlin Hilton located at Mohrenstrasse 30 which is close to Checkpoint Charlie. We plan to do the Capital Dinner Cruise at sunset and also the Sphere Restaurant in Berlin TV tower. Looking for medium to upscale restaurants for evening dinners that would satisfy a foodie/wine experience. Thanks in advance!
How about Cafe Einstein Stammhaus? It has old Berlin charm. A little pricey, but good food.

I think the Sphere Restaurant is actually quite good. Eat slowly. Hopefully you have a table by the window. I go a bit before sundown -- a revolution during the light, a revolution at twilight, a revolution at night. It's cool!
The North Korea Embassy is about 2 blocks from your hotel. I recommend checking it out. At the main entrance, there are smiling, happy pictures of Kim Jong-un. There used to be a hostel next door run by the embassy, but it is now closed. Don't talk to the people behind the fences though -- that will be the end of them.
In Berlin you find several restaurants either mentioned in the Michelin guide or even having some stars. I would suggest one of those: https://guide.michelin.com/en/de/berlin-region/restaurants
I'm in Berlin very seldom but the below ones I've tried so far
Tim Raues (a famous chef in German TV as well) 2 star restaurant:

And his French Brasserie - completely different atmosphere and style and less expensive:

I'd liked them both.
Have fun

Thank you so much! Sally
I highly recommend Windhorst at Dorotheenstrasse 65.
It is not a food experience but an excellent cocktail bar about a 15 minute walk from your hotel. The owner spins great vinyl records and has a thick book of cocktails.

Thank You!!!
