Hi,
I'm traveling to Berlin next week and will be there for about 6 days. I am very interested in getting to know locals (or meeting people from other places) while in Berlin, since I will be by myself. I am wondering if anyone has a recommendation for bars or places to go out to during my trip, as someone traveling solo.

You are in one of the best cities in the world. Enjoy!!!! I recommend starting with a walking tour - suggesting the company Insider Tours - and the Famous Insider Walk. That gets you in a mindset. Great way to meet people from other countries. Good bar to meet people - Cafe Cinema in Rosenthaler Str. If you would like some drinks, perhaps a nice meal and a chance for some dancing (and even dance lessons) try Clarchens Ballhaus - a dance club going back for over 100 years. It is in the Mitte district. New dances every night (Tuesday is Tango night) and a large dance floor - what a way to meet people. If the weather is decent, there is a nice beer garden, near the zoo, right along the canal called Schleusenkrug. Can be crowded which means sitting and sharing tables. Sharing tables means meeting people.
