I lived in Reckershausen Germany (think it's close to Kirschberg) in the early 70s. Any advise out there, on traveling there, car rental, etc.may be going this year sometime.

First, I think the nearby town is Kirchberg (church mountain), not Kirschberg (cherry mountain).
I found a Reckershausen in Hunsruck, fairly close to Hahn airport. Like Hahn, it is in the middle of nowhere. It looks like the nearest rail station is Bingen Hbf. From there it is a 2 hour bus ride, with a change in Simmern. Look it up on the German Rail (Bahn) website.
