RDU to FRA via LH

Lufthansa will start flying nonstop from Raleigh/Durham to Frankfurt on June 6, 2024.

Service as of now is on an Airbus 330-300. As if now it will operate 5 days a week.

That makes the fourth nonstop European flight from RDU.

London (AA)

Paris (DL)

Reykjavik (Icelandair)

Frankfurt (LH)

As someone who is seriously considering moving to the RDU area (1st and probably only grandchild due in February in Raleigh), this makes me very happy. I flew on AA from RDU to London in June and knew about the Reykjavik flights, but am pleased to hear about the other flights to Europe. Thanks for the info!

Very excited for this. Yet another connection point to the rest of the world. I’m tired of 15 hour layovers at London Heathrow 😂

Wow, hard to imagine that RDU would have enough passengers to go to/from Frankfurt for 5 days a week!

I imagine the business case for this flight is not primarily driven by origin/destination passengers (i.e. passengers going strictly to/from Raleigh/Durham to Frankfurt) but by connecting traffic via Frankfurt. It also means now that RDU passengers now have access to European connections via all three alliances at major European hubs.

I was at RDU today and saw the ad for the flight. They emphasized the availability of connections in Frankfurt.

as an RDU traveler, I love more options - I would much rather clear customs at RDU vs having to building an extended layover at ATL or MIA or EWR (or wherever) to ensure we have plenty of time
