Rail Pass for Within Munich - 3 days

Hello, I will be visiting Munich with my family (2 adults + 2 children ages 10 + 7) for several days as part of longer trip in June. While in Munich, we do not have a vehicle and are intending to travel via rail within city for 3 days.

We are staying in Arnulfpark area West of city center, and planning to visit mostly downtown locations - Marienplatz, Viktualienmarkt, possibly Tierpark and/or Deutsches museum, as well as various biergartens in the area.

What is the best solution for rail pass for this situation? From what I can tell, we will mostly be using S-bahn to travel a few stops to downtown area, and then back again.

Looks like everything you want to see in Munich is within the inner zone. A three day Innenraum Gruppen Tageskarte (group day ticket for the innermost zone) at 29,60€ (about $36) should give you unlimited access on all conveyance (S-/U-Bahn, trams, buses) to everything you want to see.

Unless it's a really short trip (Kurzstrecke), each round trip in the inner zone for your family is going to cost 17,20€.

Arnulfpark is next to the Donnersbergerbrücke S-Bahn station. From there take any S-Bahn three stops to Marienplatz. Or you can take the #16 tram that comes down Arnulfstrasse to Marienplatz. The #17 tram goes to the Deutsches Museum.

We just got back from Munich and bought the 3 day ticket for the 4 of us (me, husband, and sons 15 & 11) to use around town as we were staying near the Leuchtenbergring stop. It was easy to buy from the MVV machine in the station (they should be available at any main station) and the machine gave me the options of both pre-buying the night before (one less thing to do on the way to our first stop the following morning) & validating it so I wouldn't forget to do so. Be sure to download the free MVV app!
