Quick Day Trip/Overnight From Frankfurt

Hello
My son and I arrive in Frankfurt on September 19th at 9:55am and are looking for a quick day/overnight trip. We need to be back in Frankfurt on the 20th around midday to meet some friends who we are going to the Eintracht game on Sunday (21st) with. We would stay and explore Frankfurt, but we've been there before and want to do something new. We would like to keep to the smaller towns. I was thinking maybe like Idstein or Budingen. Any other suggestions? I've been to Rudesheim and we are staying in Heidelberg a couple days later in the trip.

I spent my first night in Wiesbaden and "took the waters" at the public pool. It was a nice way to recover from the transatlantic flight.

Eltville's a lovely little place with a nice waterfront. Kloster Eberbach up the hill, can be reached by bus I think.

I like your suggestion of Büdingen. Combine it with Gelnhausen, visit the ruins of the palace of Barbarossa, book a private tour in Büdingen to take you inside the city walls and up on their massive towers.
Eltville would be high on my list too with a visit to Eberbach Monastery.
3rd idea might be Bad Homburg, visit the only original palace left from Kaiser Wilhelm II, the Kurpark, a spa, Hessen Park Open Air Musuem or the Saalburg Roman Fort.
