My son and his friend will be traveling to Germany this summer. For the most part they will be staying with friends in Heidelberg but they want to travel down and see Munich, then stop at Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau Castle. They are both barely 19. They will travel by train to Munich. I have a few questions.
What would be the best way for them to travel to the area from Munich If recommended they could stay the night in Fussen and visit the castles the next morning since I know you should get your tickets early. That would give them time to sight see this area on foot if that is recommended?
Should we purchase tickets for them in advance or wait?
From here they will travel back to Heidelberg. Before striking out on their own to see Munich they will have stayed with our friends in Heidelberg for at least a week.
I hope this is clear. Please if you have any suggestions or ideas it would be appreciated. They cannot drive a car and must travel by either train or bus. This is their High School graduation present. Thank you for your help and positive suggestions.
