Question about the Bayern ticket

Is my understanding correct. Bayern ticket would be 32 euros for my husband and I on weekdays after 9 am and anytime on the weekends?

Right now plan is Augsburg 2 nights with a day trip into Munich. then travel to Rothenberg for one night then Bamberg for 2 nights with a day trip into Nuremberg. Then a Train ticket from Nuremeberg to Salzburg for two nights then back to Munich to fly to Amsterdam.

All of these routes can use the Bayern Ticket correct?
Usually I buy train tickets like this in advance and and get the best deals on the prices. However it looks like it may save me money to just do the Bayern ticket for most of these that way if we do any other travel that day it will also be covered.

Do these tickets sell out or get more expensive to buy the day of? Or is that what most people do? It looks like I can prebook all of these online for the Bayern pass just to get it done with for the days that I know I will travel these places. Heard the website can be a little hard to navigate though? Thoughts?

Your understanding of the pass appears correct.

If your "day trip into Nuremberg" and your follow-up journey to Salzburg are on the same day, then you need only one Bayern Ticket for both. If instead you are 1.) backtracking from Nuremberg to Bamberg and overnighting in Bamberg again, and then 2.) going to Salzburg the next day, then for 2.) you can use a Bayern Ticket - but it's not the best ticket for 1.) A round-trip day trip for Bamberg - Nuremberg - Bamberg should instead be done using a VGN Tagesticket Plus. That's only €20/2 adults and you can use it at any hour on any day. Buy at a Bamberg ticket machine:

https://www.vgn.de/en/tickets/all-day-ticket-plus/

The Bayern ticket does not sell out and pricing is not capacity-controlled. Do n't "prebook" - you get no refund if your plans change. What you know now isn't necessarily what you know during your trip. Just buy it at a machine on the day of travel.

You should check your travel times carefully before deciding on the Bayern Ticket. Some journeys are quite long by regional train (which is required for the Bayern ticket) and it's possible you'd prefer to travel by high-speed rail instead (Bamberg - Salzburg for example) on a pre-purchased saver fare. To isolate the regional train schedules, be sure to check "only local transport" box when you do your search.

Yes, in second class.

All of these routes can use the Bayern Ticket correct?

Yes but be aware that you cannot use IC and ICE trains.

Do these tickets sell out or get more expensive to buy the day of?

No.

Aaah, others made it. You will make it. Make a trial and if you recognise problems just ask Deutsche Bahn. They also want to know where people have issues.

For the Rothenburg to Bamberg trip you can use the VGN Tagesticket+ as well (€20.30/2) if you take the route via Nürnberg (it's not valid via Wuerzburg).
