Purchasing Deutschland Ticket

I want to purchase the Deutschland Ticket for my time in Germany from 8/16 - 8/25. When I have gone to buy it the starting date is saying 9/1. If I purchase it will I still be able to use the ticket in August or am I out of luck?

Which app are you trying to purchase it on? You should be able to reset the dates. The MVV app works well for me.

It may be too late to buy a Deutschland for August. It is already August 14. Coulda, woulda, shoulda bought it in July. It is a monthly subscription, and most site state you must cancel by the 10th of the month to avoid being charged for the following month, and the 10th of August is in the past.

Try https://europe.tranzer.com/ticket-product/248 and see of you can get a one month pass for August with no need to cancel. There is a service fee above the normal 58 EUR for this.

PS, The Tanzer site says you can still buy an August Deutschland Ticket. 61.15 EUR

You can still buy the ticket. You would have to cancel it early next month, but that's not the problem. The issue is that you need to use the DB website/app, or possibly one of the regional rail lines inside Germany. I think the reason you're having an issue is that third party vendors are set up to sell in advance. If you buy with a start date on 1 SEP you will not be able to use it before then.

You can still buy an August ticket on Tranzer https://europe.tranzer.com/ticket-product/248

You will pay for the full month, but if it makes sense, great. Tranzer automatically cancels the subscription, so you will not pay for September, and takes North American credit cards just fine

They do charge a small fee (a couple euro) and send the ticket directly to your digital wallet. I have used them twice now with no issues, and would again.

As usual, the RS Forum came through for me again! Thanks for the posts on the Tranzer website, as I spent a ton of time on trying to get a US credit card accepted for payment on DB and MVV, with no success. Got our Deutschland Tickets without any hassle in no time, and assuming the automatic cancellation featured above, saved time there too. Well worth the small service charge to save the heartburn.

Is this ticket good for the S Bahn from MUC to Munich's HBF?

Yes, Steve, it is... on any regional train. Also any S-Bahn train, U-Bahn (subway), streetcar (Straßenbahn) or public bus as well, throughout the country.

According to their website:
The Deutschlandticket is also available from MVV, DB and S-Bahn Munich without an advance purchase period. Here, the starting day can be selected. The price of 49 (currently 58) euros is calculated pro rata for the remaining days of the month, depending on the start day. Condition: The ticket must also be used for at least the following full calendar month.
This looks like you have to pay for at least two months.

As for Tranzer, they only sell:

Unfortunately not. We only supply the one off, one month Deutschland Tickets in Apple Wallet and Google Wallet formats. So not necessarily an Iphone, but you would need a a smartphone (IOs or Android).

Operators in Germany itself do sell them on a separate Smartcard (depending on your start region), though these will always be a subscription based and often require a German bank account (or for some at least an IBAN).
