Public transit from Tegel Airport to Holiday Inn Express

We love the challenge of taking public transit in Berlin. What's the best way to get from Tegel Airport to Holiday Inn Express Berlin City Centre at Stresemann Str 49? Is there a difference between taking S-Bahn or U-Bahn? Thanks

From Tegel, the only option is a bus, which can then connect to either the S-Bahn or U-Bahn. For your hotel, take a look on a map, the best would be to catch the X9 bus from Tegel to ZooGarten station, then walk the rest of the way, or taxi to your hotel.

It looks like the U-7 from Jakob Kaiser Platz to Moeckernbruecke would be no changes.

There is no rail transport to Tegel airport, only buses.

In Berlin and other German-speaking cities, U-Bahn refers to the specifically urban subway system operated by the local authority, and S-Bahn to suburban rail lines operated by the national railway. Berlin is unusual in having S-Bahn lines that are frequently useful for travelling within the city centre as well. From the modern non-rail-enthusiast traveller's perspective, the only difference is that the U-Bahn is mostly underground and the S-Bahn above, apart from the North-South line through the city centre. Exactly the same tickets are used.

See what the hotel says.
Bus TXL until "Hauptbahnhof", from here switch to bus M41 in direction "Sonnenallee" until "Anhalter Bahnhof". (That's also my proposal.)
This also works well X9 / 109 to Jakob Kaiserplatz switch to U7 direction "Rudow" until "Möckernbrücke"
Everything for 2,70€ http://www.bvg.de/en
(What is the difference between U-Bahn and S-Bahn? The color, one is yellow and the other beige red. At the moment strike only the S-Bahn driver.)

I know you said you want to take public transit, and that's usually my preference too. But for anyone else lurking, I should point out that taxis from Tegel to areas such as Charlottenburg, Mitte, and Prenzlauer Berg, where most tourists would be staying, only cost about €25-30, and so are certainly a viable option.
