Looking for Rick Steves discount promo code for Radius tours Munich
There is no code listed in the book, so just show your book when there. Booking ahead is only mentioned for the Neuschwanstein and Oktoberfest tours. You still pay for the Neuschwanstein ticket after joining that tour, so they can give you the discount on that portion.
Thanks, Laura! The problem is that when you book in advance online, Radius Tours wants the credit card info and a promo code, if any. If I pay for it now and try to show them the book when I get there, I doubt if they will give me a refund of a few euros. If the Rick Steves discount only applies when you show up in person and book at the last minute, please tell me.
P.S. I should have added that I was specifically looking at the Dachau tour with Radius that is a E2 Rick Steves discount.
The obvious solution is, don't use Radius; do the tour on your own. You'll save almost 20€. That's better than Rick's discount.
No one has ever been able to show me that any outside tour guides are any better than the guides trained by the Memorial itself. A guided tour by the Memorial's guides costs 3€ per person. English language tours go off at 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM and take about 2½ hours.
Getting to the Memorial on your own is a piece of cake. Take the S2, direction Petershausen (or Altomünster), not Erding, from anywhere on the S-Bahn trunk between Ostbahnhof and Laim (or even out the S2 line as far as Erding) to the Dachau Bahnhof. At the Dachau Bahnhof, take the #726 bus to the Memorial. The bus leaves from in front of the station, and it is well marked as going to Dachau Memorial (KZ_Gedenkstaette).
An MVV München XXL Tageskarte (day pass for the inner two zones of Munich) will cost you 8,60€ single or 15,40€ group (up to 5) and cover all of you transportation round trip. It will even cover additional transport by U-Bahn, tram, or bus from anywhere in the inner zone to the S-Bahn station. If you staying anywhere except near the Hbf, you probably need an MVV inner zone tageskarte to get to the Radius meeting point in the Hbf anyway. The XXL day ticket is only a few euro more than the inner zone version.
Entrance to the Memorial is free. You don't have to tour it with a guide; there are signs. However, having taken the Memorial's tour, I think it is definitely worth the 3€. For 3,50€ you can also rent an audio guide and see it at your own pace.
Thank you, Lee! I really appreciate the time and detail you gave me.
