Friends will be touring in Munich for a few days and then departing to Vilshofen for the start of Danube river cruise. Would any of you have any recommendations for a private driver or transportation company who would be willing to take 2 passengers (and luggage) to Vilshofen at the end of September.

I have no recommendations for private transportation because it is something I would never do. You don't need private transportation. There are hourly trains from Munich Hbf to Vilshofen Bahnhof. There is a taxi stand in front of the Vilshofen Bahnhof, but it's ony a half mile walk from there to the Viking dock.

They can probably get someone to drive them there but I agree that the train is a much better option.

Prices of carriers like 089drivers.de start from €270. A "Regio-Ticket Donau-Isar" for the direct RE is €31 for two.
