Hi everyone,
Looking for a private guide in Stuttgart (and the surrounding area) next month.
I found recommendations on this board for StuttgartSteps, but they seem to have closed.
Can anyone offer recommendations based on experience for a guide?

Stuttgart is not a great tourist city. Aside from the Mercedes and Porsche factories, I recommend going elsewhere.
Stuttgart has plenty of things to see. Sometimes people don't know about them and think there is nothing here to see.
Sarah, who is also on this forum, created Stuttgart Steps, but she moved back to the US. Perhaps she will come on and post some suggestions.
There are palaces, gardens, vineyards.
One of the posters on Trip Advisor, has 100s of posts about things to see in Stuttgart. His post is rather old, but it contains a number of tourist attractions that would still be the same today.

Unfortunately, I do not know a guide, but have lived there for some time, so some tips:
1. Stuttgart is indeed a wine city, so you can do some vineyards if you want
2. The city itself was heavily bombed and is not particularly charming, architecture wise. Some surrounding towns are in much better shape in that regard (Esslingen, Tuebingen, Ludwugsburg) and make nice day trips.
3. Ludwigsburg has a baroque palace with gardens
4. There are vintage cable cars in Stuttgart itself
5. The city has a couple of nice museums. Personally, I like the Paleontology one the best.
6. In the larger surrounding area there are a couple of castle ruins, and various other things.
