I am looking for a private guide for a party of 5 for a day-trip from Munich to see the Neuschwanstein castle and other attractions in that area.

I don't know about a person guide but after visiting Neuschwanstein back in 2007, we were driving toward Zugspitze, I was navigating while my dad was driving, I came upon a recommendation from the Rick Steves guide for Weiss Church (Weiskirche). It was a worth while stop. The church and the scenery around it are beautiful.
Last year i was in Munich for 5 days and on one of those days i did an organised tour with Pure Bavaria Tours, i chose this company after much research, as i wanted a more personal service than going with a big tour bus/group.

The web page above details the tour we did, 99 euros per person, so it was not cheap but we were out for best part of twelve hours and it was a major highlight of an excellent holiday.
Hope this helps, by the way we travelled everywhere else in Germany by train and we found this a great way to get around and toured places like Dachau without a guide.
I would not hesitate to recommend Pure Bavaria, our guide was Mario, great person, very friendly, informative and nothing was too much trouble.

I would get in touch with Dark History Tours. They can customize a tour for you at very reasonable prices. This guy really, really, knows his stuff. I loved my tour with him, and so do all the other people who have gone on his tours. You can read his reviews on Trip Advisor. He is so passionate about all of the history, that even those who think they don't enjoy tours or history will find themselves quickly changing their minds.
